Linux-Tip News

We are proud to present Linux-Tip Europe. This page is designed to provide the Linux users community (not only in Europe) with news and articles that are of interest to them. It works by allowing members of the community to submit news and articles relating to Linux hardware and software. This same community can then decide what tips should be promoted based on what they consider to be the most important or interesting to the community by voting stories up and down. Stories that receive enough votes are promoted to the Linux-Tip Europe homepage. Bookmark and Share

Tip: Free WiFi Solutions with Public IP's ZoneCD Print E-mail

Public IP's ZoneCD is freely distributed open source software that has been created to help implement safe, free, WiFi hotspots. The ZoneCD can be used by all levels of free WiFi providers, from experienced programmers to coffee house cashiers. Setting up a free WiFi Hotspot can be as easy as hooking up an access point, popping in a CD and rebooting.

What is the ZoneCD? The ZoneCD is built on a LiveCD platform called Morphix. Morphix is based on Knoppix, which in turn is a LiveCD version of Debian Linux (gasp). Knoppix provides much of the auto configuration software used during bootup, and Morphix provides the lightweight modular platform for me to add the components and software required to create an automatic WiFi gateway.
