The installation of Linux, like other operating systems, should not be taken lightly.  This incarnation of SuSE Linux, like previous versions, uses a GUI style install that is easy to follow and doesn't look like it was written by bored engineers who forgot about end users. Simply select the language and packages, and partition the drive.  You'll soon be off and running on the install.  An advanced installation can take over an hour, so pop a good DVD into the set-top and sit back and relax.  As with Windows, there's a slide show introduction during installation.  If you've never used Linux before I would advise watching the loop at least once. After the software is installed comes configuration.  The start is setting the password for root, the main system administrator.  Make SURE that you do not use this account as a regular system account.  If you do, it's at your own risk.  Linux is not as forgiving as Windows: if you do something detrimental to the system as root, such as deleting the / directory, the system will need to be re-installed.

Having set the root password, configure your network and users.  After that, it's time to boot into the OS.
