Navyn OS version 2004.07 released

Navyn OS is gnu/linux distribution based on Gentoo. Gentoo isn't a typical distribution like Debian or Slackware, it doesn't have even installator it is similar to making own distribution. The main part of Gentoo is portage a set of scripts for installing and removing programs. You can install program easily by typing command emerge program_name. In portage there are thousands of programs. There are also dependencies between programs so command emerge will install all needed programs. Command emerge downloads program from network, unpack, compile and install.

For the first time ever, downloaders have access to a professional online support staff free of charge. Before the launch, users had to take it upon themselves to hunt for support options after downloading OpenOffice.org, the wildly popular open source office suite downloaded over 20 million times; completely replacing Microsoft Office in some instances.

After claiming that Lindows violated its 'Windows' trademark, Microsoft is to pay $20m to Lindows.com -- which will change its name and hand over a clutch of Web sites, according to reports. Microsoft's battle with Lindows.com may be over.
