All Linux distributions have things in common, but many differ in
software installation and updating. Gentoo Linux is based on Portage,
SUSE uses YaST, Red Hat and Fedora opt for yum, Linspire prefers
CNR.... Oh, and don't forget the different package options: RPM,
Debian, source, and more esoteric options. Smart Package Manager works with all major distributions, replacing native tools and installing different types of packages.

server that offers all services needed by ISPs and hosters: Apache web
server (SSL-capable), Postfix mail server with SMTP-AUTH and TLS, BIND
DNS server, Proftpd FTP server, MySQL server, Dovecot POP3/IMAP, Quota,
Firewall, etc. This tutorial is written for the 32-bit version of
Fedora 8, but should apply to the 64-bit version with very little
modifications as well.

NoMachine NX is a Terminal Server and remote access solution based on a comprising set of enterprise class open source technologies. NX makes it possible to run any graphical application on any operating system across any network connection at incredible speed.
FreeNX application/thin-client server is based on NoMachine’s NX technology. It can operate remote X11 sessions over 56k modem dialup links or anything better. FreeNX package contains a free (GPL) implementation of the nxserver component. The following workshop describes the FreeNX installation on a Mandriva 2008 Free server. Additionally it explains how to access it using a Windows XP and an OpenSuse 10.3 client.

It contains a new multimedia API, called Phonon, a device integration framework called Solid and a new style guide and default icon set called Oxygen. Virtual hosts are used to run more than one web site on a single machine. Virtual hosts can be "IP-based", meaning that you have a different IP address for every web site, or "name-based", meaning that you have multiple names running on each IP address. You can also run your web pages on different ports like 8080 or 8090. The fact that they are running on the same physical server is not apparent to the end user. This workshop describes the different setups based on an OpenSuse 10.2 server.
